The gents who are mentioned in the title of this email were the keystones of John Barleycorn's many evenings of superb transcendence beyond a mere bar,

I like it -- it's a great idea! And if the Nob Hill Tavern doesn't work out, there's the upcoming McTeague (next door to the Holy Grail) or perhaps even the Space Gallery :)

I say we talk to these fine gentlemen and hear what they say. A monthly (say) MBPN would be fantastic!

EDIT: I'm happy to design the t-shirts ;)

Maybe we could somehow make the legend of the Barleycorn into something like the Flying Dutchman?

Heh, Barleycorn Flash Mobs -- there's a concept :)

I think the first step is to sit the aforementioned gentlemen down and get them on board. Then we approach prospective pubs.

I know Tony is out of town for a few days, starting Thu. Let's see if we can get at least some initial discussion going before then.

Well, it's nice to be included with, uh, real bartenders, like Larry, Dan & Mike!

If the mob of Santa Clauses that invade bars and pubs every year can pull it off, if every year a thousand or so people can gather at the foot of Market Street and belt each with pillows, then 20 or 30 drunks surely can!!

Dan had some talks with the owner of the Space Gallery on Polk St about a JB-Monday night. This would work terrifically, though not for Dan who's working Mondays. Plenty of room for Parker and the Bummer Blues Band too.

So who's volunteering to head up the effort?

It would be an educational venture to wander south of California Street on Polk.

Great ideas and any pub should welcome such a scheme as it would surely boost their business especially on the typically quiet Monday nights. Jwh
